Monroe County Mental Illness
First you need to deal with the mental aspect of the breakup. The part that tells you that you are alone for the rest of your life and nothing will ever get better.
Having a spiritual faith to lean against, even positive thinking, can help you change your thoughts and try to see meaning and hope when you are feeling at your worst. If you are just feeling sad at times when you would normally feel sad, then faith can help. But faith alone will not work in clinical depression, bipolar depression or endogenous recurring depression.
You should also consider re-thinking the way you are looking at your situation. Take a minute and look at the situation from a different perspective. While you may be thinking of it as the end of the world, another person may look at it differently.
The biggest thing you can do to speed up the process of getting over your ex and to keep yourself positive about the situation is to not see them. Avoid contact with your ex until you have fully dealt with the emotions that you are trying to deal with.
Who is sexier, the confident guy with the shaved, bald head or the one with bad posture and a comb-over? Which of these two guys has chosen to own his dwindling hair follicles and which one is ashamed? Denying your illness is a form of psychic comb-over. It says “if I pretend my heart/kidneys/bones are fine, then everything will be OK”. Believe me, no one is fooled. Least of all, you.
First, I learned that depression and crazy is hereditary: a person may inherit the whole thing or inherit it in part, the fullest cycling or a lesser cycling, or one may get either the manic side or the depressed side. It was truly a revelation. It explained a lot about me, and my brothers and sisters. Knowing this, we have a much better chance of trying to control it.
Those whose “something” was the excuse for hatred have benefited from his support for the family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Housing Act Amendments of 1988, the Disabilities Education Act, the family Opportunity Act, and mental health parity legislation. Now we have the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act. Now every polling place is accessible thanks to the Help America Vote Act. Perhaps, in his memory, we will have an act that will expose and indemnify hate crimes against the disabled. Perhaps in his name we will someday have decent health care.
