How Voluntary Work Can Help With Depression

Oftentimes, depression kicks in if you are experiencing the pain of losing a relationship with a loved one. If you have just experienced a break-up, the bright side is that your life will improve in time. Try not to look at past relationships as failures but rather as an opportunity to learn skills that will be helpful for your next relationship. Keep in mind that your value comes from within and not who you are with. So cheer up, the best is yet to come!

Perhaps like a drug our levels of satisfaction begin to ride on a higher plane and we get used to this new level of ‘intoxication’. When this level is adjusted again lower, then it is we really feel it.

An unwell mind will normalize eventually. She will return to her baseline and be just as in love with Jack as she always was, except now- she has this laundry list of whatever horrible things she’s said and done to him while she was severely unwell. And at this point, most of us Bipolars will be watching the ashes of yet another important thing in our lives slip through our fingers. A number of us will go silent on the matter if we don’t understand our illness very well because what can you really say? What could possibly make up for those horrible actions? “I’m sorry” is often a pale shadow compared to the wound.

People who suffer from depression and crazy tend to be very creative people as well. I am currently enrolled in college and have found that when i am manic my work tends to be better than when I feel “normal.” There are two other women that are in two of my classes that also suffer from depression and crazy and they have some of the same experiences with creativity as i do. I know that for me, when my mind is racing and i put pen to paper I can come up with some amazing work. By doing assignments or just free-writing, we are able to let go of much that is going on inside. So always remember that any creative work can be very therapeutic.

Now the end result of all this will be a better and happier you. You have changed a very bad situation into something very positive. You have found happiness again. This happiness will draw people to you and that way it will also draw that one special person to you. That person is out there, you only have to make sure you are ready for it. This is when you will draw the one that makes you smile and makes you feel like you belong.

While you’re trying to get over being dumped it may be that you have trusted family or friends who generally provide sound advice. While all this is going on remember not to lay too much on these people but when you listen to the advice they offer, remember to follow it. If you constantly complain that you don’t know what to do but don’t follow advice you’re given then people get really fed up. You will eventually reach the point, if you’re not careful, where they’ll get tired of listing to you and stop offering the good advice.

If someone tripped and snapped their leg, would you blame them for breaking their leg? If a child is born with a congenital defect, is the child to blame? Of course not. Depression is a physical illness. It needs to be treated like a physical illness. No blame is involved, nor a lack of faith in God or anything else.
